Thanks. A show of Parker's early '60s paintings is up for a few more weeks - I'm going in a few days to gauge how wrong this probably is.

crazy impressive that you've managed to capture the disdain in his eyes, he has the most subtle expression of any bird

Did a little investigating of this image yesterday (hat tips maxlabor and arjununcle). It's a crop from a photo of a Common Grackle ( http://dump.fm/images/20111203/1322961465591-dumpfm-maxlabor-Screen-Shot-2011-12-03-at-8.17.29-PM.png ) and has been used as an avatar in cropped and uncropped form. Grackles are blackbirds that spend a lot of time walking around on the ground and making hideous noises ( http://youtu.be/0ZVII_Np0ME ).
paul @ Sunday, December 4th 2011, 9:53 AM
Yea,they're pretty sociable! They like to raise a fuss w/all their friends and gossip alot! Land a Bluejay in the midst of them and see how they give him room! Pretty impressive!!!
Tom Moody @ Sunday, December 4th 2011, 11:19 AM
A bluejay
Joins the fray
And grackles
Raise their hackles.

(There's probably a metaphor here.)

Beautiful Sunset-You get a similar view looking towards the Sange de Christo Mountains from Mt. Capulin, although I'm sure there are plenty of places to get that lil' glimpse of HEAVEN!
Robert Lorayn @ Thursday, December 1st 2011, 2:03 AM
God Sabrina your drawings are absolutely ridiculous. I love seeing them.
paul @ Thursday, December 1st 2011, 9:43 AM
Yea,i realy like your shadow techniques!Depths are nice, and the way you lead the eye is realy pleasing! It adds an air of 'mystique' to your drawings, and your gradients are realy what I like, especialy when you go down to 1%,with what looks like a stochastic feel?NICE!!! I can imagine what you would do with an actual airbrush?!

Prairie Rain...
Tom Moody @ Thursday, December 1st 2011, 7:16 PM
This does have the feel of the Western landscape, and a sudden shower where it's not raining anywhere else. I like the stencil-like sharpness of the rain against the gauziness of the clouds and mountains.
paul @ Friday, December 2nd 2011, 12:08 AM
You also get the similar effect in Florida, where storms pop up around you in small patches, with some lightining displays that are realy cool!

Tom Moody @ Thursday, December 1st 2011, 7:11 PM
More like this, please.
And what--you don't want me to follow you on twitter any more? That drawing's gone missing.
Best, Tom
